We were lucky to catch up with Darnesha Ellis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Darnesha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?

I feel like you determine how successful you are no one can really Tell you that. Also I feel like if you work hard for what you want you will definitely succeed in your business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I have been a cosmologist since the age of eighteen. I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist since the age of twelve.It all started at that young age with just braiding my sister,cousins and aunts hair. My cousin Dedra was one of my big inspirations in the hair business at young that age. I became a young mother so it pushed me to push through for my baby and I we did just that me and him. The services I provide is color, braiding,extensions and all natural hair services. My products I provide is my GCH hair oil and also I provide bonnets and wigs. I provide hair growth products and I am very knowledgeable about healthy hair that’s what set me apart.I give my clients steps and make the using the right products for the hair type . I m proud that I never quit even when it got hard I kept pushing.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

I would say social media and word-of-mouth. Don’t be scared to put your work out there. You really brighten up someone’s day and be very inspiration they need to watch do they could show off there business too.

Have you ever had to pivot?

After having both of my children at a young age, I had to learn how to push through. I feel like they gave me more energy to be able to pursue my dream. at one point I did lose some customers, but God gave me back everything I lost plus more and I I really thank God for my son and daughter, serenity and Jeremiah. Thank you for giving Mommy the strength that I didn’t think I had.
