We were lucky to catch up with Thomas Holley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Thomas , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I started off watching YouTube videos trying to figure out the basis of recording myself. Overtime I began to fine tune what I learned and applying more knowledge to my musical understanding. I started watching more videos about engineering, producing /and video production to become more versatile and understand more. Knowing what I know now I definitely would have taken the time earlier to the learn the fundamentals in music production as well as video production. I also would have watched more documentaries on the past and present of music so have a deeper understanding. One of the biggest skills I learned to have is patience. Everyone feels like they will blow up quickly with work or feel like they know it all and miss a lot of information. Having patience helps you break things down and become more detailed in what you do. Sometimes access to certain information or missing out on certain connections slowed things down but if you really want something, you will always find a way to get it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For many of those who don’t know me but are about to read this, I’m Holleylujahh. A kid from Queens, Ny who is building a legacy and striving to be a legend in the world. From a little kid I always had a love for music and once the opportunity presented itself it was an easy decision. I remember hearing songs and how they made me feel and always feeling I had the ability to do the same thing these artist that I grew up hearing. High school was the first time I actually recorded something and let people hear it and knew this was one of my passions in life. It wasn’t until college when I stopped playing football that I started diving deeper into music. The brand behind Holleylujahh is being true to self and working to be the best version of yourself while being thankful you get to do it.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The biggest goal I have is spreading the wealth and putting people on. I always felt that there is too much opportunity out here to not share the wealth and knowledge. Being able to give back to the community and help other striving business people get a foot in the door makes me feel like I’m doing my part in life.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is being able to express how you feel without always having to talk to someone about it. It’s also fulfilling having people who might not be speaking about their problems but going through similar situations be able to relate and get a sense of peace because they know they’re not alone. The ability to be as creative as I want with no real restrictions except the ones I put on myself. Those are some of the most rewarding aspects.
