We recently connected with Sherice Sheppard and have shared our conversation below.
Sherice , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
He said” One of the most solid people I’ve ever met honestly” about me and it’s no coincidence I feel the same way about him. We met a few years ago and he’s been behind the scenes in my corner ever since. I have never met anyone like him. He’s such a phenomenal person with great character. I remember when I met him I was so nervous, because he’s a big deal, but that quickly went away because he was so humble and laid back. I can talk to him about any and every thing because he makes me feel so comfortable. He amazes me every time he speaks because he’s so smart and knowledgeable. Not everyone gets the same version of him, so if he lets you all the way in then you’ve been blessed. He’s a great father to his kids and he’s family oriented. I love the fact the he’s a God fearing man and ALWAYS speaking about God. Did I mention he’s naturally funny? There are some days it’s hard to smile but he will make me laugh out of nowhere. I’ve never heard him raise his voice, but you know he mean business because even though he’s calm, his voice is stern. The business man, the musical genius, the mogul, a patriarch, a leader, king and my hero….Floyd. There was a time in my life where I was depressed, had anxiety and even suicidal. Although I was seeing a therapist, Floyd helped me tremendously by telling me some things I can do to bring myself out it. There was a time I was going through some things with my son and he was there. There was a time when I felt like I couldn’t talk to anyone, I could always talk to him and that’s just a few because he’s done so much for me. He’s always teaching me things like about people, the industry I’m in and just how to cope and deal with life period; to me that’s priceless. He’s always uplifting me and encouraging me. I’m always giving other people credit and he’ll say “you’re the nucleus.” He’s inspired me so much by not giving up not matter what and working hard. He’s helping people and changing their lives which is something I aspire to do. No matter if’s it’s good or bad, he’s always there. He allowed me to grow. He’s not only my hero, he’s my knight in shining armor.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I started Pillow Talk Houston, I wanted to do something to keep people entertained until we did shows so I started posting things on the Pillow Talk Houston Instagram page. At first I started posting funny videos and questions about relationships. Then, I did a segment where people could send me their relationship questions and I would post them anonymously. In return the followers would give their opinions and let me tell you, THEY DIDNT HOLD BACK lol! I would go live from sometime and interact with them. I would be scared lol, but they made me feel comfortable. It was crazy because they were just happy I went live with them. The page grew so much and had followers from all over the world and even celebrities. I had created my own community. I was up 31,753 followers and the page got deleted. Luckily I had a backup page and I surpassed my first page followers. I now have 58.8k followers and I still have people from all over the world with different backgrounds. I feel there’s a disconnect because they don’t know me as well the original page and I really miss my first page til this day. It takes hard work to build an Instagram page. You have to constantly post and engage with your audience. I spend a lot of time searching for things to post, but I LOVE doing it. The comments are so funny. Pillow Talk Houston page brings dialogue, information and entertainment. People have reached out and told me on a bad day the page has brought them laughter.
