We recently connected with Alexis Quintal and have shared our conversation below.
Alexis, appreciate you joining us today. Your ability to build a team is often a key determinant of your success as a business owner and so we’d love to get a conversation going with successful entrepreneurs like yourself around what your recruiting process was like -especially early on. How did you build your team?
My business is made up of 1099 contractors, rather than employees. The reason for that is because the majority of my team are already in business for themselves, have their own LLC, or offer freelancing services to other business owners. What these talented people were missing were a team to collaborate with, and someone to bring in consistent business for them. That is why I formed Rosarium PR & Marketing Collective, and we are currently made up of 15 talented contractors. The majority of them came from my previous experience at PR & Marketing agencies, and we all left with a similar goal of working for ourselves. Others came from places like UpWork, or even from networking. I enjoy the unconventional nature of this company structure because these workers get to choose their own rates, they get to say yes or no to the work that comes in, and they can control their own schedules. The outcome? Insanely high quality of work, increased levels of motivation, and loyalty to the brand and the rest of the team.

Alexis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Sure! I am Alexis Quintal, the owner and CEO of Rosarium PR & Marketing Collective. I have over 10 years of experience in sales management and director-level media roles at high-profile institutions like Walmart Media Group and Newswire. In 2020, I left the corporate world on a mission to help level the competitive playing field between large companies and new business owners. The result was Rosarium — a company that scales world-class marketing communications solutions to be accessible and affordable for startups of all sizes. My goal is to make more entrepreneurs by making it easier to be a successful entrepreneur. When not working as an extension of my clients’ teams, I enjoy being active outdoors in sunny Tampa, Florida with my husband, two huskies, and two cats.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Reputation is a major part of owning a business. I am lucky enough to be specializing in this very topic for my own company, and what I’ve enjoyed is the testing and learning phase of it on myself before I started selling it to other entrepreneurs. The one thing that has really helped me build my reputation is public relations (PR). And by PR, it’s not what you think. PR in 2023 is everything that is public-facing and shares information – that includes social media, podcasts, TV (streaming or live), newsletters, magazines, articles, video interviews, etc. I jumped head first into getting myself mentioned or included in as many PR opportunities as possible and that’s how I quickly grew my company. And that’s exactly what I do for my clients and they are always pleasantly surprised by the results!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
The reason I do what I do every day is because of my clients. I truly care about their success and their happiness – because both are closely related. I am very open and transparent with my clients, I communicate with them often, and I show that I care by paying attention to what is important to them, both personally and professionally. I give them gifts that they actually would want to use, and I check in with them when they’ve been quiet. I enjoy the relationship aspect of my business the most.
