We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Will Wildfire a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Will, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I wanted to be a musician when I was little and heard Hanson’s MMBOP for the first time! I sang it for my cousins and they laughed at me til kingdom come, but I was hooked right then and there.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started singing and playing guitars a child growing up in the church and listening to all kinds of music. I signed my first record deal w/ R&B Only Records and continued on to be a songwriter, performer, and professional recording artist. I’ve traveled the US, toured, and met with all kinds of people from Ty Dolla $ign to 9th Wonder.
I’ve had more fun than I thought I would’ve becoming a mixing engineer and professionally mastering songs & writing for artists. I was surprised as well when I was reached out to by Champion (the clothing brand) to help out with a bunch of their marketing and social media material — you never can tell where it’s going to go.
There’s a few shows coming up in the next few weeks/months as well as a whole new project so be on the lookout for that!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to help light the path for those that are seeking to unite with the highest common denominator, being a vessel for those like minds to also be a light in that darkness.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The idea that once you have this particular thing, you’ll be where you need to be. The journey is a process and it’s an eternal unraveling of the Truth. That a lot of times what you think you know can be the be the barrier holding you back from true understanding.
The thing is that we have to have our hearts changed on the way before we arrive; or else when we get to wherever we’re trying to go nothing is different.
