We recently connected with Charlie Michael Baker and have shared our conversation below.
Charlie Michael , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Transitioning from a teenage social media personality to a business owner brought unforeseen challenges. First and foremost, managing the shift from a more casual, youthful online persona to a professional one was a delicate balancing act. Maintaining credibility and trust with my audience while engaging with corporate partners required adaptability.
Additionally, I encountered the complexities of business operations, such as financial management, legal obligations, and team leadership, all of which demanded a steep learning curve. Navigating the changing algorithms and trends of social media platforms added further unpredictability, affecting my reach and engagement.
Nonetheless, this journey also presented opportunities for personal and professional growth, as I honed my entrepreneurial skills and leveraged my online presence to establish a successful business.
Charlie Michael , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In July, I took a leap into the world of entrepreneurship with my business called Kozi. So, what’s Kozi all about?
Well, we specialize in crafting sensory weighted products designed to support and comfort the autism community. It all started when I saw how sensory issues affected my younger sibling and realised there was a gap to fill. Our products are meticulously designed to provide a sense of security and calm for individuals on the autism spectrum. What sets Kozi apart is our dedication to quality and personal touch.
I take pride in the fact that we put great care into every product we create, and that we’ve built a community of support around our brand. I’m most proud of the positive impact we’ve had on the lives of those we serve, helping them find comfort and solace in our creations. For potential clients, followers, or anyone interested in Kozi, I want them to know that our mission is to make the world a bit cosier for those who need it most.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to really learn was that these things don’t come easy! I’m lucky that I had my social media platform and following to back me, others don’t have that! I’m so glad I’ve built Kozi from my book, Charlie Baker: Autism And Me.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My social media following really grew from my book, which had sold just over 50,000 copies globally now, and I am very grateful to everyone whom has supported me on this journey!
