Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shanice Linton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shanice , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Oh absolutely, at Visual Vybz Studios we make it our mission to go above and beyond with each of our clients and serve them as if it were our own business. As a niche content marketing agency that serves clients in the medical aesthetics industry, it is a challenge to separate each client and give them unique strategies that keep them competitive. As a result, we make a dedicated effort to differentiate our client’s strategies and content based on competitive offers, and unique brand personalities, and craft compelling video stories that help to set them apart.
This requires A LOT of additional work on our end, long hours, and research but this is truly worth it because we love our clients and share their passion for helping their business grow and thrive.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my business in 2018 in Jamaica. I then permanently migrated to the United States and continued it over here but decided to niche into an industry that made sense for my interest in beauty and for growth amid an ever-changing economy so I chose healthcare – which is how I ended up in the medical aesthetics industry.
Visual Vybz has always been a business focused on attracting and retaining clients using strategically creative content marketing. We have several methods that we use but ultimately patient education is our main focus. We believe that educating customers on products and services with nurture them into long-term clients, and we see this impact in our clients performance data across the board.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I just started out I always thought that I had to say yes to everything as it relates to business. Every single opportunity and request was followed up with a yes until I was physically and emotionally drained as a business owner. This was a lesson I had to unlearn really quickly. In order for your business to thrive you need to be able to say no to things that don’t serve you. Now, sometimes those lines can be blurred, because some opportunities can be great for business growth but not all of them a good for your own mental health, and if you arent able to function well as a leader and run your business then your whole business will crumble.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first started out, I was in my early 20’s, and most of the clients are tried to close were 20 years older than me so I had a difficult time proving to them that I was credible and worth the investment as a business owner. Visual Vybz started out with just me, no employees no additional help and I had to wear many hats on top of proving the value behind the service.
I had to do a lot of extensive research to figure out how to promote myself as a credible expert and show the value of what I had to offer with data to back me up. Ultimately this started out with low-paying clients who I am very grateful for, as they provided me with the results that I needed to eventually increase my rates and gave me the data that helped to prove their return on investment.
