We asked entrepreneurs, artists, creatives and folks from every walk of life to share stories of kindness with us because we believe that hearing about kindness inspires more kindness. Our world needs more kindness.

I have lived on my own since I was 15 1/2. I could never afford piano lessons but since I could read music, and learned how the piano was laid out note-wise, I was able to teach myself to some degree. I would stay after school and practice in the choral room. The chorus teacher noticed and as there were no other boys that played piano she asked if I would represent our school in various region competitions. I agreed and she would pick music and even stayed afterschool on occasion to give me pointers. I would place 3rd or 4th in these competitions, always losing to kids who had piano lessons since they were 6. Read more>>

The kindest thing that’s ever happened to me happened before I was able to get my foot in the door within the content side of the music industry. I had shot sports for the past couple years prior to this opportunity I had to shoot in-house for a larger scale music festival. My friend Bryan Chow was helping lead a content team for a festival in Utah headlined by Post Malone, Trippie Redd and some other bigger named artists. There was a day when I was helping him with a separate shoot and the topic of that festival had come up and he immediately asked me if I’d want to shoot the entire festival as part of the in-house team and I without hesitation said I’d be willing to help out in anyway so he in the same instance made sure there would be a spot for me on this team. Truth be told, The kindest gesture is when someone gives support, recognition, and/or say’s an encouraging word in our direction. This is a hard industry to crack; especially coming out of a lil crack in the living land home of the streets of ENY as an independent woman ran business. So when anyone genuine crosses our path and give a gesture of support whether it’s to actually support our brand, make a purchase of our products, stream/download our music, or even do an interview as acknowledgement of our works. It has always been in my nature to be of service to others, a therapist might say that is because at a young age when I truly needed help I never received it and had to learn to rely on myself. Others might say it’s genetics as my mother and grandmother have always been and continue to be givers, no matter the little they have, they will always and have always given of their time, food, energy, and their spirit, never saying no, I can’t.. always si como no. The kindest thing(s) were from a very short and selective group of family, friends and colleagues who have unknowingly opened doors and possibilities for me without want of anything in return. What I call “Gifts Without Strings” Read more>>

After college, I entered the graphic design industry, where I encountered the typical post-grad challenges applying for jobs and figuring out which new opportunity would be best for me. The first job I accepted was at an entertainment agency, which I quickly found to be quite challenging. With only one semester of entertainment design experience, I jumped right into projects for major film campaigns, working alongside production companies such as Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, and more. I try my best to take care of the people around me and in return I receive that back. I’m so blessed and fortunate that people are always doing kind things for me (especially my family). I can’t pin point one thing. For example: During the pandemic shut down we kept our retail area opened to ship products and make deliveries to our customers through mail, Uber eats, and Postmates. When I first started composing, I was about 12 years old. I had never heard my music played by musicians and not the computer. One of the most educational and inspiring experiences as a young composer is to have the opportunity to work with people and hear your music played by live performers. At the time, I was playing the violin in a youth orchestra, and I told my youth orchestra director that I had started composing. She asked me if I had any pieces, and then organized a group to play my music, not just in a reading, but in a live performance where they had several rehearsals. At this early stage in my composition career, it really meant so much that she believed in me and my music. It was the first time I had ever heard my music in real life, and that act of kindness led me to want to create more. Read more>>

In 2013, I did not have a keyboard. I received donations from generous individuals, which helped me stand on my feet and utilize my talent to propel myself forward. This support facilitated the release of my debut album in 2015, marking the commencement of my professional artist career. Later, I ended up building and owning the best recording studio in Armenia. In 2021, I relocated to Los Angeles to start a new life. Currently, I’m still facing various challenges, but I firmly believe that the best is yet to come! Read more>>

The kindest thing that anyone has done for me, really was to give me Grace. There are moments when I am not able to or I just have not shown up the way I’d like to or the way I intend to — and it was really the person who allowed me to be where I was without judgment, and even may have extended a helping hand or a kind word or gesture at a time where I felt I was most undeserving, feels at the time like the kindest thing anyone can do for me. It matters to me so much as someone who has suffered with so much low self esteem, lack of self confidence and a lot of emotional abuse when it came to making mistakes and not being perfect. I’m always open and willing to offer Grace, Empathy and Understanding where I can, especially when it involves another person. Read more>>

There are two very kind thins that people have done for me related to my art. 1) When I was looking for a specific potters wheel for my studio, I checked online at many different websites and checked with people I knew involved with ceramics. I was having no luck for quite a while. People were wanting crazy prices for the wheel or it was far enough away that the cost of getting a 240 pound wheel to my studio was prohibitive. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me, especially in regard to my creativity, was to believe in me. It might sound trite but truthfully, having those who were always in my creative corner helped me build the confidence and freedom to continue creating without the weight of all the “what ifs”. As someone who has long struggled with feelings of enough-ness and worth, it truly filled my cup to hear and see my loved ones so strongly advocate for my art and accept it as something that is simply a part of me – an extension of self. At HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD we do things from the bottom of our hearts with no expectations. While shooting our team photos with a local talented photographer “ hiiikeem “ he told us he had a gift for us. We both looked at each and said “ gift?” . He went up stairs and bought down a box . He handed it to us and said I don’t need it or use it . We both opened the box and it was a brand new mic boom. We both were very grateful and shocked at the same time . We don’t expect anything from our clients but a great experience with us. Read more>>

A Dear Friend who is like a Brother to me gifted me the opportunity of my first musical gig for his friends and family and that was a beautiful foundation to better understand who to go about in the realm of sharing my gifts with people and move past issues of self doubt… A beautiful human gesture. My husband, Rich is repeatedly coming to my mind with memories of the many kindnesses he has shown/given me over our years together. Back when we were running our Flower Shop together, he gave me the gift of visiting family out of town after a busy Holiday Season. It was completely out of the blue and so intuitive on his part to recognize just what I needed at the time, to get out of my routine and connect with loved ones. I got involved with an Artists Guild here in my hometown; volunteering to be on the Exhibits Committee. This is a “job” I really enjoy and even though I am part of a Team, I take my part very seriously, always efforting to do my very best. We’re lucky enough to have had enough donations to start & maintain a Members Gallery & Artisans Boutique. Read more>>
