We were lucky to catch up with Lynae Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lynae, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
With my Horses & Hounds art, I want to highlight the companionship and beauty that comes from owning an animal, whether a horse, a dog, a cow, a cat, etc. Rescue work is a big part of my heart. I recently painted keychains of long-term residents at a local humane society to be given as a gift to their future adopters. Wild mustangs also have a way of inspiring my art, so I’ve painted for mustang sanctuaries which they’ve used for their merchandise that benefits the care of the mustangs. So with my Horses & Hounds art, I hope to continue painting the long-term residents at humane societies and highlighting the wild mustang sanctuaries, along with, painting the beloved pets already owned by families.

Lynae, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My pathway to art is a little fun. I am a veterinarian turned artist. And while my children would nap, I found my peace and quiet time picking up the paint brush. In the beginning, I started with custom pet artwork on keychains and journals, and it started maturing into oil painting on canvas. With my Horses & Hounds, I hope to continue to do commissioned pet oil paintings of dogs, horses, cats, family pets, etc; and then I created my Old West Romantic art that will focus on western & rural art sceneries, with wild horses being the focal point.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The main mission behind my creative journey with both types of artwork is to bring beauty to the home, highlighting the companionship from family pets and the pure wildness from the old West.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is showing what brings you joy, it shows what is in your heart. You’re illustrating what is meaningful to you in a way that only you can show. It visualizes what you sometimes cannot put into words.
