We caught up with the brilliant and insightful NR Hunt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, NR thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My project, ALMOST LIST EVERYTHING, is a meaningful project to me because it’s the story of how I lost things one after the other, from being T-boned in my new Tesla to my Beamer getting hit by a company vehicle in the parking lot to a traumatic altercation where I had been wronged and the response caused me to go to jail and pay 4,500 to get out and to be charged with a felony even though I was the person that was wronged. Through this process, I lost so many things but didn’t lose everything, just ALMOST lost everything, which is why I want to share that story through this project because it will inspire others to understand that even though it seems like we lost everything we never truly do and that through what we think is a terrible loss God is using it to grow us, to make us better and to strengthen our character, as well as give us more even in a tangible way.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is NR Hunt. I am an artist/songwriter who owns a Project Management company called Official Feature. I not only rap and write music for singers and rappers of all genres, but I am the plug for any artist/musician. I even connect many projects outside of music and entertainment, but specifically in the creative world, my company helps with everything in the entertainment industry from end to end. People come to me because of my niche of leveraging so many amazing relationships in various industries, that I can literally pull off any project imaginable. When this comes to entertainment and morso music focused, I am able to not only help artist have hit records, but provide their marketing, put them on tour, and even connect them to the funding necessary for them to move as if they were signed artists.
On the east coast, I gained my start in church. I was rapping at hundreds of churches on an annual basis. Moving to Los Angeles about 7 years ago, I gained my path from scratch by connecting to so many people through Uber, to which I’ve written a book entitled “The Unshared Ride” With 27,000 rides under my belt, I had gained favor with so many people from various industries that I was pulled into many rooms that people dream about being in. Having connections that go as far as the number 1 analyst in pharmacuetical stock in the world to the head of distribution for Universal Music Group in my cell phone. I’ve rapped in the car for a couple that transfered $10,000 to my account to promote my album.
Today I use these connections to help grow other artists. To put them on stages. To connect them to real money that can be used to further their careers in ways they dream of. I provide clients with consultations and customer campaigns that are tailored specifically with their artist needs. Being that I’m an artist, I’m fully aware of all the hurdles, hoops, and obstabcles that have to be jumped or overcome to continue on the road to success. I know their needs, I know their wants, and I know ultimately, they want to be heard.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I believe resources are pivotal in growing your business or even becoming a bigger creative/influencer. I believe even more than just having the funding, it is really having the information. It is a crucial resource because without information you really don’t even have a compass to what you need. Oftentimes, I find that for music specifically, people are creating music and they are creating in a space. Marketing in a space. If they are even doing that much, then that isn’t even attached to the music industry at all. These things sadden me because I know that if they just had access to this information they would be able to be involved in the actual race. Again, information is a compass. It can point people towards necessary things for themselves. One of the things I find to be crazy is once a person has gotten information, oftentimes they have spent so much money going the wrong way. If they just had this information, even someone to point them to a resource, instead of a resource being financing, but a resource being the wealth of knowledge then they can make an educated decision. I feel like that, in itself, could make a huge impact on not just them but their friend circle. And that would generate a better situation for everyone. Then, with the right information and being pointed in the right direction or the path of funding, they would be able to make a better decision and scale appropriately. So again, I don’t believe that money is at the forefront. I believe it is the information that will drive the correct uses of the money because people are already spending money without the right information.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I would say that a particular goal and mission I have is making sure that not just creatives but entrepreneurs themselves have the ability to do all they want to do. I do understand that having the proper connections and information, as well as access to resources will allow for that. I am on a mission to make sure that I connect all of those pieces together for anyone that I come into contact with. Whether it be funding, giving them information that would help them pivot or continue forward or any kind of motivation that they would need to keep on the journey themselves. A Lot of times as creatives, as we are the ones that give people hope, give people joy, give people insight, give people relief, we oftentimes need the same things for ourselves. So, I want to be that light. That pillar for many people. In addition to that, my company wants to make sure that we give proper guidance, in business information and having strategic thoughts and processes, and using business acumen to make better decisions in their business, how to grow their business, and how to create more awareness that will allow people to be more in contact with them. In addition to that too, I am very excited to help people find purpose, and in finding that purpose, I believe that people will live a more fulfilled life. As they always say, what is success? Is success just having money? A smarter person would say, success is having money and the time to spend it. But truth be told. The best answer is… success is fulfilling your purpose.
