We recently connected with Anouk Aumont and have shared our conversation below.
Anouk, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The first major risk I took in my life was moving to east Los Angeles as a 23 year old not knowing anyone. I hoped to create a name for myself as a Hand-poke Tattooer, and in the span of 5 years I built a business that sustained my life in ways I couldn’t have projected possible. The second biggest risk i’ve taken, is deciding to move to Athens, Greece to pursue another creative discipline. Painting. I’ve been here for five months now, and I have a hard time even writing it out, or saying it out loud. It reminds me of the same feeling I had moving to LA, claiming to be involved in a creative medium is 50% of the assignment as an artist. The more I insist that I am a painter to others, the more i’ll start to admit that I am one to myself.

Anouk, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am multi-discplinary! I am a Handpoke Tattooer by trade, but my practices span from painting and illustrating, to sculpting and ceramics. As someone who is completely self-taught in all of my mediums i’ve really seen an enormous shift in my practices just by doing them everyday.
Since moving to Athens Greece, I’ve started to sell my flash pieces globally.
If you are someone who wanted to get a piece by me but don’t plan on popping into the EU you can purchase a design and take it to your local tattooer by emailing me [email protected].
This goes for paintings aswell, if you want a commissioned painting for your space, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Don’t be shy! if you don’t know something, ask fellows in your creative field for help.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
There never is an end goal with my creativity, I think that my mission is to continue to be fully self supporting.
