Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Myesha Simpson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Myesha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you as a business owner?
An important lessoned learned from my prior job would be to make sure you are always securing yourself. You can dedicate years, days, and hours to a job and they will fire you for any reason they can. Never get too comfortable and always push to the top, one job is never enough so if you have a passion start building your own job!

Myesha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, I am Moe I started Moes Kitchen in 2017 in my apartment to give myself the gourmet experience that I could no longer afford due to being young figuring things out on my own. Every week my parents would treat me to restaurants that I would love but once I was out on my own at 18 it was hard to manage everything so I decided to start creating it. Every day I started cooking all my favorites, steak was my top favorite meat at the time. I focused on mastering the best flavor steak there could be. Once I stayed disciplined for a year with perfecting my cooking I started to post it on social media. I never been this big person that was into social media but I knew a lot more people would be able to see how I can create a gourmet experience at home. As my followers grew during the year I got an inquiry for my first catering event! At that moment I knew all the videos, pictures, consistently cooking and perfecting what I really want to give was now paying off. After that catering and great reviews, I thought maybe I should get a logo and LLC and really take this serious. On September 24, 2019 I established Moes Kitchen L.L.C. all I had was content, a logo and a LLC. After I got my LLC I became a content creator I would spend hours on content atleast 3-4 times a week every week , dedicated to it. I hit my first Million views on tiktok, I knew I could do it over and over. As my following got bigger so did catering, I started to offer all these services such as private setting catering, $2 recipes, gourmet sauces and more! So some things that makes different than others are the excellent customer service I provide, the dedication, the drive that I have for Moes kitchen to be one of the biggest catering companies. From all that hard work and discipline I am proud to say on year 4 I purchased a food truck, brand new and fully customized by myself. The main things I want you guys to know is we will be open in the next few months, catering and carry outs are available daily at www.moeskitchen.net. I will always make sure we continue to be the best gourmet food catering and truck around by providing excellent customer service and providing you with everything to your gourmet needs and more!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
On October 8,2023 I got fired from my job of 5 years. I was really dedicated to the clients I had but time was running out for me without me having a clue. One of the workers called me to tell me I was being replaced, at that moment on the phone call I knew that was time for my transition to fully focus on my business. Throughout the years I was building my brand while working because I knew no job working for anyone was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. During this time it showed me that nothing is safe or forever unless its your own! 3 days after I got fired my food truck got delivered to my family venue location, what a great way to pivot into a bigger life transition!! I didn’t have long to worry about anything because I covered myself, I am thankful for that. During this life journey I have learned if you have no one have yourself at all times because times can get hard and you can always bet on yourself! If you have a passion strive to give it your all even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone but yourself just don’t give up! Times will get hard, it will get slow, some won’t understand, family won’t support but use all that for motivation for giving your passion your all, it will all pay off in the end.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been word of mouth, consistently marketing my merchandise, and consistently posting on all social media platforms + google!
