We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Samuel Wilton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Samuel below.
Hi Samuel, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
when i was younger, maybe around middle school. i always enjoyed making things and being creative with my friends. i didnt love school i never felt great at it. i wanted to drop out and make beats for ppl but im from oklahoma so my parents didnt let me and i was even good. i just stayed grinding on it and then started to rap and sing on my beats i was too fye.

Samuel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
tell our readers about yourself: my name is dog. i am an artist from Oklahoma.
how you got into your industry/business/discipline/craft etc; i have always been into art and music. both my parents were really big into it, which sparked my interest. my dad would take me to live shows growing up and was supportive and interested in all the musicians i enjoyed. years passed i moved to LA and was working as an artist mgmt assistant and still making music. covid happened and i just decided to turn it up.
what type of products/services/creative works you provide: i make songs, i produce and record vocals. this makes people emotional.
what problems you solve for your clients: i guess theirs. i reach out through song, i make them feel heard. its easy to feel unseen.
what you think sets you apart from others: i have my own swag, my own universe. i just make what i want to hear personally. trying to make music i think others want sort of exhausts me. it’s fulfilling knowing others enjoy what i like to make.
What are you most proud of: Truthfully, i am most proud of myself. i worked really hard to be where i am at today. the sky is the limit and i am trying to dance with the stars. anything is possible.
what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc: that i am just like you. i am a man, i am a brother, i am a son, i am a friend. i live on the same planet as you. the world spins around and around, it gets dark at night and i get scared. you can do this too, just be yourself. its never too late to be yourself.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
i don’t want to be famous, you dont do this to be famous. there were times i had to sleep on the floor, sleep outside. I am giving everyone my full being, my full self. this is who i am. success is what i desired. the way chief keef makes me feel is what i wanted to provide for others. no matter who you are or what you come from, you can do it. they will do anything to be in the spot you’re in.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
i’m not sure if you are willing to share this. A few years ago I was by myself on thanskgiving. I decided to take LSD, i was still in college i wasn’t sure if i could do music for real i was hella dwelling on this idea i was frightened. a vision struck me, what this vision entailed, i can’t fully recall but it inspired me to send it all the way. i looked in the mirror and i wasn’t happy with what i saw, there was something missing. then it struck me, i had to get “popstar” tattooed above my brow. i didn’t want to work a job, it had to be known when you see “popstar” on my face that i can’t work a job, i dont want to work a job.
