We recently connected with Namaste Natasha and have shared our conversation below.
Natasha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The advice I love to share with clients revolves around the concept of cultivating self-awareness and mindfulness on and off the mat. Yoga extends far beyond the physical postures and the true essence of the practice lies in the present moment-a union of mind, body, and breath.
I guide my clients to shift their focus inward, to embrace the practice as a sacred moment for self-reflection and self-care. I encourage my clients to develop a deep connection with their breath, exploring their sensations and thoughts without judgment approaching their yoga practice as a moving meditation.
The results have been truly transformative. They saw physical improvements in their flexibility and strength and felt mental clarity and emotional balance. They noticed a significant reduction in stress and anxiety levels as they learned to be present in the moment, allowing them to let go of the pressures of perfectionism. By weaving mindfulness into their daily life, they became more attuned to their emotions and reactions.
The beauty lies in its universality. It’s not just about yoga; it’s about living with intention and authenticity. By fostering self-awareness and mindfulness, my clients are able to navigate challenges more gracefully, savor moments of joy more deeply, and cultivate a deep sense of inner peace that radiates into every aspect of their life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A car accident left me physically and emotionally shattered but awakened me to the profound understanding that I held the power within to heal myself on all levels. In the face of unexpected adversity, I discovered the transformative power of yoga.
I was cycling in Downtown LA on the same route and bike lane I always took to class and was struck. I suffered from herniated discs and bulging discs in my L4 & L5, T2 & T3, bone contusions, cuts, scrapes, bruises all over my body and was severely out of alignment. I had been an avid dancer, athlete, Crossfit-er and cyclist. It was all swept away from me and depression took hold.
But In the heart of my despair, I realized that physical and emotional healing required a profound shift in my mindset. Despite the daunting daily challenges of crippling nerve pain and a medical system that emphasized temporary relief with pills, I took control of my recovery journey.
Yoga, massage, mobility and mindfulness became my allies. I documented my progress and slowly rebuilt my body and spirit. I also studied Reiki, massage therapy, physical therapy, mobility, flexibility, and after a year of dedication I awakened to a life of newfound strength and wisdom. And this year, I am grateful to be able to do the splits again.
My journey became a testament to the remarkable capacity of the human body and mind for healing.
Where your focus goes, your energy flows.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
A true love for yoga shines through in your teaching. Passion inspires and motivates your students to embrace the practice.
A commitment to continuous learning and a keen understanding of anatomy and body mechanics is crucial for guiding your students in safe and effective postures.
Yoga has diverse cultural and spiritual roots. Creating an inclusive environment where all students feel welcome and valued is essential for fostering a positive and diverse community of practitioners.
Every student is unique, and an excellent instructor adapts to meet various needs. This includes modifying poses, sequences, and even teaching styles. Adjusting your classes to suit the needs and levels of your students ensures that everyone can benefit from your teachings.
Yoga instructors often play a role beyond teaching physical postures. What helps you shine as an instructor is your ability to inspire and guide your students on their individual paths to physical, mental, and spiritual growth while creating a supportive and nurturing environment in which they can thrive. Demonstrating leadership through guidance, motivation, and support can inspire your students to trust and follow your lead.
