We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Isabella Chiarini a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Isabella, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
When I first started singing I never thought it could take me where I am. I had it in my mind that I wanted to be a makeup artist until I was 14 years old. After I released my first single, it was game over. Since being 14 I have never looked back and it’s been such a fun ride.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Isabella Chiarini, a singer-songwriter from Hamilton, ON. Although I am a pop artist at heart, I make a conscious effort to explore different sounds and subgenres underneath the pop “umbrella” to achieve my distinctive sound. I started exploring my passion for music when I was 8 years old and began taking singing lessons with renowned vocal coach and author, Teresa Nocita. From there, I set off to achieve my goals at full speed, participating in singing contests, going for auditions, and eventually getting signed to a development company in Nashville called PCG Universal. It was at this point that I completely fell in love with the music process. Fast forward to today, I write and release my songs in Canada, co-writing with Teresa Nocita and 2007 winner of Canadian Idol, Brian Melo. My main priority with music is to be my authentic self every step of the way, and to empower my listeners, which I do so by writing about my personal experiences in hopes that people out there can relate in some way. Life is filled with pressures and challenges, but music is a healing outlet where I can turn things around to create fun, uplifting songs for my audience and for myself. With a lot of my audience being young adults, I hope my songs inspire them to love and believe in themselves.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I would say the biggest pivot in my career was being offered a development deal with PCG Universal. I learned so much about the behind the scenes of being an artist, I had performance training, songwriting sessions etc. and through them I released my first single.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal with music is always to make sure people connect with my music. My drive always comes from wanting to do better than my last song, seeing how far I can push myself creatively to be the best I can be. Also, seeing peoples reaction to my music is something I love.
