We recently connected with Dj Fade and have shared our conversation below.
Dj, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I am actually currently working on the most meaningful project in my career at this present time. Over the past three months, those who have been following my journey have noticed my frequent attendance at various shows of Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour in the United States. This incredible opportunity arose through my recent collaboration with Kevin JZ Prodigy, who serves as the voice of the RWT.
We crafted a Jersey club / Ballroom mix to “That Girl” which is currently viral on TikTok. Using the hashtag #AintStopppingMeChallenge : You will see thousands of participants from all over the globe, spanning diverse backgrounds, and even garnered participation of Amapiano superstar Uncle Waffles, adding an extra layer of excitement!
Additionally, a selection of my compositions were chosen to be used for reels on Instagram for Beyonce’s public charity foundation @Beygood. During the tour the charity offered grants to various business owners to each city they stopped by and visual recaps were posted. One of the songs in those reels was my Alien superstar remix with MikeQ which I was able to get played live on Hot 97 mix-show. To have a modern ballroom record play live on one of the biggest radio stations in the world was a fulfilling moment. May this achievement be motivation to get more radio Djs to support the genre and research producers within the community.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a globally recognized Dj and Producer hailing from New Jersey, celebrated for my exceptional production skills and crowd-pleasing performances. My journey in the world of music began with Jersey Club in 2009, as I started creating remixes with the hope of capturing the attention of fellow DJs. Within a few months, after consistently sharing my music on platforms like Myspace and SoundCloud, my tracks reached the ears of Diplo when he played one of my tracks at a show in Jersey. This pivotal moment opened my eyes to the immense potential of the internet, inspiring me to persistently hone my craft. I dedicated myself to practicing my mixes at home on a consistent basis, and as a result, I embarked on a journey as a mobile DJ. During my time DJing sweet 16s every weekend, I developed the habit of immersing myself in the crowd, dancing with the birthday person. This interaction has become an integral part of my brand and remains a cherished aspect of my sets.
Throughout my career, I’ve achieved numerous milestones, but if I were to single out one defining highlight, it would be the realization of my lifelong dream to sustain myself full-time with music alone. My ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with others has been a driving force behind my success, enabling me to connect the dots that lead to each achievement in my career. In the realm of music, my artistic mission embraces two central tenets: : Aiming to electrify the dance floor with my musical creations while simultaneously crafting a sanctuary for healing and providing comfort to those navigating difficult moments.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I maintain a list of carefully outlined goals on my phone, encompassing both short-term and long-term objectives. Gradually, I have been checking off each item on this list. If I were to emphasize a central goal, it would be to attain mainstream success and leverage it for impactful influence. Over many years, I have diligently studied the intricate patterns of the music industry, understanding that the judicious use of influence can exert a significant and influential impact when handled responsibly. To truly establish a sustainable career in music, one must possess a comprehensive understanding of the industry, from its inner workings to its outermost facets. One of my core missions is to offer mentorship programs, bridging the gap for emerging creatives by providing a service that I never received during my journey.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Throughout my pursuit of my goal within the Jersey Club domain, I’ve encountered various challenging moments. One such instance was the internal struggle I faced when contemplating whether to take a break from my academic studies to fully immerse myself in music. During this period, many of my peers were embarking on tours. I remained dedicated to the pursuit of my degree all while juggling two part-time jobs. This proved to be emotionally taxing, as I held a strong belief in my musical abilities. I later found out that the timing wasn’t quite right. In the face of these difficulties, I demonstrated resilience by maintaining self-discipline and staying committed to the path I had initially embarked upon and stopped comparing my journey to others. Today, I proudly hold a bachelor’s degree, complemented by a minor in music marketing.
