Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Love The Artist. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Love, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to be an artist as a child. My mother still has drawings from when I was in elementary school. Once I graduated with my Bachelors degree in painting, I knew that I needed to pursue full time employment through my artwork.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Love is the artist behind Artizmylov, a private tattoo studio specializing in realism, portraiture, Polynesian tribal, and colorful floral tattoos. Artizmylov was created in response to the exclusionary tendencies of the tattoo community. As an intersectional artist, Love, the artist, is devoted to bringing quality, high-end tattoo experiences to those other artists may deem less desirable as clients. Artizmylov brings a luxury tattoo experience to neglected, marginalized clientele such as non-binary individuals, the plus-size community, people of color, those with skin concerns (stretchmarks and/or moles, for example), and the larger LGBTQIA+ community.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The perfect story to illustrate my resilience would be my COVID story, as many people exhibited the same trait during that time. I was tattooing in a tattoo studio with several other artists and regular foot traffic. Our studio was shut down once the quarantine was initiated, but bills were still due.
After researching safe ways to continue to work, I stocked up on the best cleaning solutions and began wearing a mask and a medical gown while I tattooed. I moved into a private studio to reduce exposure for myself and my client. These systems are still in place in my business today. I was able to be smart in how I continued business but I continued my business.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is that I have the beautiful opportunity to love and truly enjoy what I do. In addition to the passion that I have for what I do, I also have the opportunity to be able to make as much money as I want based on how I choose to organize my business. Though there is a great responsibility in working for yourself full-time, the power and freedom can make it all feel worth it.
