Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Evans. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Lauren thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I believe music is a powerful vehicle for healing, growth and unity; not unlike therapy. I hope that my legacy is one that demonstrates this clearly. I want to be remembered for making music that helps people to heal, come together, and grow!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello! I’m Lauren Evans, a songwriter and recording artist with a passion for creating music that resonates deeply with listeners. My journey in music started at a young age, recording demos for my dad and his songwriting partner. This early exposure led me to work with production duo Buster & Shavoni, who featured me on The Prince of Egypt soundtrack under the pseudonym Christian. This opportunity was the first of many for me. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with a diverse array of artists and contribute to various projects ever since.
Over the years, my vocals and songwriting have been featured in chart-topping hits like “One Step at a Time” for Jordin Sparks, “Bad Boys” for X-Factor UK’s, Alexandra Burke, and “Decidiste Dejarme” with Latin pop/rock group Camila. My work spans genres and includes contributions to soundtracks for popular franchises like High School Musical, The Cheetah Girls, and Bratz. I’ve also had the privilege of singing alongside legends such as Mick Fleetwood, Chaka Khan, Andra Day, Natasha Bedingfield, and Tears For Fears.
What sets me apart in the music industry is my voice, my ability to craft lyrics and melodies, and my ability to connect with people on a heart level. Whether I’m writing for myself or for other artists, my goal is always to create songs that are true and evoke genuine emotion. I take pride in my ability to work in different genres. I try to bring a unique flavor to each project.
Some of my most meaningful moments are the ones where I can observe the impact of my singing or my songs in real time. Whether live or via digital means, these moments are the engine that keeps me going! I remember receiving an email from a woman who worked as a counselor in a drug rehabilitation facility in Tennessee who was using “One Step At A Time” to help inspire and encourage patients who were going through the program. I never could have imagined when I wrote that song with my friend, Robbie Nevil, that it would be used in that way.
For those who may not know me or my work, I want you to know that my music is driven by authenticity and a deep love for the craft. I’m committed to creating and singing songs that not only entertain but also inspire and uplift. I believe in the power of music to unite, heal and raise awareness. I hope my music speaks to you and brings a little more light into your world.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely! My creative journey is deeply driven by a mission to inspire and uplift through music. From the very beginning, I’ve aimed to create songs that resonate on a personal level, touching hearts and minds. I truly believe music has an incredible power to heal, bring joy, and connect people, and I strive to harness that power in everything I create.
One of my primary goals is to write songs that tell real stories and to make people feel something. Whether I’m drawing from my own experiences or stepping into someone else’s shoes, I want my music to be a source of comfort, understanding, and hope. I believe that by sharing our stories through music, we can foster a sense of community and empathy.
Additionally, I have a strong desire to break down barriers and cross genres, collaborating with artists from various musical backgrounds. This not only broadens my own horizons but also enriches the musical landscape, showing that music is a universal language that transcends cultural and stylistic boundaries.
Ultimately, my mission is to leave a lasting impact through my music, creating songs that people can relate to and find solace in. I want to continue growing as an artist and a songwriter, always pushing myself to explore new creative territories while staying true to the core of what makes music so special—the ability to touch the soul.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn is the notion that perfection is the ultimate goal in the creative process. Early in my career, I often found myself striving for a level of flawlessness that, in hindsight, was not only unrealistic but also stifling to my creativity.
The backstory to this lesson goes back to my early days as a songwriter and vocalist. As a young artist, I was constantly surrounded by incredible talent and high expectations, which led me to believe that every song, every note, and every performance had to be perfect. This pressure to achieve perfection sometimes resulted in self-doubt and a fear of making mistakes, which hindered my ability to take creative risks and fully express myself.
One pivotal moment that helped me unlearn this lesson was during a session with my vocal coach, Nick Cooper, I was singing a song and just couldn’t seem to get it “perfect.” Seeing I was frustrated, Nick gave me some valuable advice: “Perfection is an illusion; It doesn’t exist”, “Perfect is not the goal; authenticity is. People connect with what is real and honest, not necessarily with what is flawless.”
This advice resonated deeply with me. I realized that the raw, imperfect moments in music are often the most powerful and relatable. They carry emotion and authenticity that perfection just can’t replicate. From that point on, I began to embrace imperfections as part of the creative journey. I learned to trust my instincts, to be vulnerable in my music, and to focus on conveying genuine emotion rather than chasing an unattainable ideal.
Unlearning the need for perfection has not only made me a more confident and expressive artist but has also allowed me to connect with my audience on a deeper level. It’s a lesson that continues to shape my approach to music and creativity, reminding me that true beauty often lies in imperfection.
