We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dominic Lomibao a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominic, thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.

As a nurse practitioner, I am driven by the desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Nursing is more than a job to me; it’s a calling. The ability to provide compassionate care to those in need, to help them heal, and to improve their overall quality of life is both humbling and inspiring. I chose to become a nurse practitioner because I believe in the power of healthcare to transform lives, and I want to be a part of that change. As a nurse practitioner, I have the opportunity to work closely with patients, to listen to their concerns, and to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs. I am committed to providing the highest level of care possible, and to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I serve.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a certified Nurse Practitioner and has many years of experience in the healthcare field. My passion for maintaining a healthy lifestyle has brought me to this new venture in 2019. I graduated from California State University, San Marcos where I received my Master’s Degree in Science Nursing.

As a nurse, I have the incredible opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others every single day. My passion for nursing stems from a deep desire to help people and make a meaningful difference in their lives. I have a personal connection with my mother who herself was a caring nurse and I have been inspired by the compassion and expertise she displayed as a caregiver. I’ve always been drawn to the medical field and found that nursing was the perfect way to combine my love of science, art, and caring for others. In addition, I’ve pursued this industry/career because it is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. My dedication to my patients and commitment to providing the best possible care is truly inspiring, and my willingness to constantly learn and grow in this profession is a testament to my passion and dedication.

As an aesthetic nurse practitioner, I provide a range of services aimed at enhancing the appearance, and more importantly, the confidence of my clients. I create and provide customized treatment plans for my clients based on their individual needs and goals. My creative work as an aesthetic injector involves using my knowledge and expertise to help clients look and feel their best, while also prioritizing their safety and well-being.

As an aesthetic nurse practitioner, my proudest moments include successfully helping a client achieve their desired results. I feel a great sense of pride when I receive positive feedback from clients, indicating that they are happy with their results and grateful for the care and attention I’ve provided. Seeing the feedback in social media, Yelp, and Google recognizing my expertise and contributions to the field had been such a touching and humbling experience. Ultimately, my proudest moments stem from my ability to make a positive impact on the lives of my clients and help them feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Despite facing countless obstacles and setbacks, I’ve persisted in my pursuit of this dream, refusing to let anything stand in my way. I have tirelessly devoted myself to gaining the knowledge and experience necessary to excel in this field, never losing sight of my goal. I unrooted myself as a nurse from Sharp Healthcare for over 10 years and made the dive to pursue my dream to become an aesthetic nurse practitioner. To say it was a scary move is an understatement. I had a steady job as a registered nurse at Sharp Grossmont, however, my dream to become an aesthetic provider gave me the motivation and the drive to make the leap. The first few years was testing, but my unwavering commitment to this passion and unrelenting drive to overcome any obstacle in this path got me through those challenging times. I know that my resilience and determination will continue to propel me to achieve my greatest ambitions and hope that it inspires others who dream of making a similar lifechanging move.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?

There are several important lessons that can help you succeed as an aesthetic nurse practitioner.

Firstly, it’s important to stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques in the field. This means continually educating yourself and seeking out opportunities for professional development.

Secondly, it’s crucial to prioritize safety and prioritize the well-being of your clients. This means taking a thorough medical history, performing a comprehensive assessment, and being mindful of potential complications or adverse reactions.

Thirdly, it’s important to communicate effectively with your clients, managing their expectations and helping them understand the potential benefits and risks of any treatment.

Fourthly, developing strong relationships with your clients and building a loyal clientele is key to success in this field. This means providing excellent customer service and building trust with your clients over time.

Fifthly, developing relationships with other providers and collaborate with them, not compete. There are services that you may not provide but able to refer your clients to someone you trust, and they will do the same.

Lastly, maintaining a positive and professional attitude is crucial in this field, as it can help you build a positive reputation and inspire confidence in your clients. Overall, success as an aesthetic nurse practitioner requires a combination of technical skill, empathy, and business acumen.
